Private locating services in the GTA - Hydro, Water, Gas, Fiber and Septic
RM Underground Locates provides private underground utility tracing using specialized electromagnetic techniques and equipment. Subsurface utility locating is an investigative field process subject to physical and environmental limitations—including, but not limited to, signal interference, non-metallic/un-traced materials, soil conductivity, moisture, deep burial depth, and un-grounded utilities. All visual markings, spray paint, flags, and verbal communications provided by RM Underground Locates serve strictly as an approximate surface guide and shall not be interpreted as guaranteed, exact, or 100% accurate.
It is expressly understood and agreed that all locating services provided by RM Underground Locates are performed solely for the convenience of the customer, property owner, contractor, or site operator (collectively, "the Client").
By engaging RM Underground Locates, the Client explicitly acknowledges and agrees that:
No Reliance & No Liability: RM Underground Locates assumes zero liability for any direct, indirect, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages—including property damage, utility strikes, personal injury, project delays, or financial loss—resulting from any party’s reliance on surface markings, flags, or field reports.
Hand-Digging & Verification Required: Surface markings indicate an approximate path only. The Client and their excavation contractors maintain full responsibility to physically expose and verify the exact position, depth, and trajectory of all underground utilities using soft-dig techniques (e.g., careful hand-potholing or vacuum excavation) within a minimum 1-meter (3-foot) tolerance zone on either side of any mark before utilizing powered mechanical equipment.
Undetectable Facilities: RM Underground Locates is not responsible or liable for failing to detect non-conductive, non-metallic subsurface lines (such as plastic, PEX, PVC, concrete, or clay) that lack a continuous, accessible metallic tracer wire or operational sonde connection.
Public Utility Locates: Private locates do not replace or supersede mandatory public utility locate requests. The Client remains solely responsible for contacting statutory one-call administrative bodies (e.g., Ontario One Call) prior to ground disturbance.
Indemnification: The Client agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless RM Underground Locates, its owners, operators, and agents against any and all claims, lawsuits, costs, legal fees, and liabilities arising from excavation, drilling, digging, or ground disturbance activities performed by the Client or any third-party contractors.
